New MP of the week…or not

I skipped last week on account of being sick. This week I barely squeaked through: it was 11:00 p.m. when I got it up.

Anyway, this week’s spotlighted case is John Earl Huey Cravens II, who disappeared from San Diego, California sometime between 2003 and 2005. He was homeless at the time and tended to avoid the authorities and people generally, so the circumstances of his disappearance are really fuzzy. If he is alive he’s probably hiding on purpose: before his disappearance he traveled all around the country, tried to change his appearance and his fingerprints, refused to carry ID and always worried that the cops were after him. Suggestive of mental illness? He was between 25 and 27 at the time of his disappearance, and would be 34 today.

Actually, it turns out that Mr. Cravens is deceased, according to the MySpace page his family put up. Thanks to commenter Juno for pointing this out. Someone should tell NamUs.

According to the myspace page linked in his profile, he is dead – his mom wrote on it to indicate he was killed in a hit and run. Second comment from the top, center of the page.

that’s a shame, young guy. A lot of transients die that way. Sounds like he was mentally ill as well. Very sad.
