Another MP from South Africa

Found this article about Edna Elaine Piercey, a sixteen-year-old girl who’s been missing from Rustenberg, South Africa since 2001. She was last seen walking to a friend’s house. The article has an AP drawing of her, as well as a letter written by her mother, Janine Lottering.

Just months after Edna disappeared, Lottering’s other daughter, Blanche disappeared and soon after her body was found.

Blanche was brutally murdered and her face was removed. “There was a hole where her face was,” Lottering said.

She also believes that her daughters’ tragedies are connected, that Blanche might have been taken by the same people who took Edna.

Holy crap. That’s horrible. Reminds me of the Debra Jean Cole disappearance and her sister Frances’s murder.

Steven Beebout – the suspect in the Cole sisters’ case – lived ACROSS THE STREET from me when my two adult kids were little. The houseburned one night (most likely set by him) and he died shortly thereafter.
Did not find out ANYTHING about this case until that happened (we had recently moved to Lebanon from Chicago) – but I found out so much more from Charley than I did locally.
There are locals who would like to link him to Shannon Sherrill’s 1986 disappearance as well. (Thorntown is 15 miles from Lebanon)

Off topic – but have you seen this?

Meyahna had it up on Unsolved in the News. Apparently Amanda Slaughter got “married”, had a kid and was murdered by her child’s father. He was convicted, did time and is out. Somehow throughout the whole investigation and trial no one figured out who “Mandy” really was. Crazy. At least finally her parents know where she is and know about their 19 year old granddaughter.

Yeah, I saw that. Very sad story. I hope the presence of a grandchild mitigates the loss somewhat.

In another case, a guy had been convicted of murdering the victim who was referred to as Jane Doe at the trial since no one knew who she was. She was homeless, and this guy invited her to stay with him in a hotel room. She ate some of his food without permission and for this he murdered her. She remained unidentified for several years afterward, until a coroner or someone surfing the internet saw a missing woman’s Charley Project casefile and made the connection.

Hi, Edna is missed by all of her friends! We were friends… I know she didn’t run away, and this article doesn’t mention everything… I’ve spoken to a few people in the media re pushing the police to reopen the case of Edna and Blanche. Now all we can do is pray that someone out there does something!
