Ann Rule to write about Susan Powell

According to this article, Ann Rule is going to write a book about the Susan Powell case. That is good news. I love Ann’s books. She’s an awesome writer and her books always sell well, which means this one could generate more tips. (Not that the case isn’t famous already!)

Susan’s sister thinks Josh poisoned her. He apparently cooked dinner for the family just before she disappeared, something he’d never done before, and she thinks he put something in Susan’s food. Either that or he was trying to lure her into a false sense of security before killing her some other way.

Wow, great information! I’ll definitely be on the look out for this one!

Interesting. I was reading this site on Forensic astrology where she uses charts which show the planets at the time a crime was committed. Even if you think this is malarkey, it’s very interesting:

She is going to die very soon here and her husband and her father in law are there. In fact, the tenth house ruler, Venus is right with the Sun as it moves through the fourth house. Mars and the Moon moving into the twelfth describe violent death. Moon in Leo in the twelfth points to heart failure or heart attack or a breaking of bones in the back. With Mars, there is some sort of assault involved. But there are other markers that point at drugging or poisoning. The eight house ruler is Neptune, which describes drugs, and it is in the sixth house of sickness. The sixth house shows confinement, too. Sun in Sagittarius in the fourth house shows a possible shooting with a gun. Sagittarius often describes ammunition and weapons, especially bullets but also knives. Pluto in the fifth always describes rape for me. The twelfth house ruler, the Moon, at the first house cusp, can show suffocation, drowning, smothering.

The author also suggests she is buried in a remote, rocky desert area, probably on a mountainside, near some place like a mine or where they have done nuclear test, that her body is in a suitcase and was probably burned or dismembered first. You can read the whole thing, if you’re interested: http://forensicastrology.blogspot.com/2011/10/susan-cox-powell.html

A “remote, rocky desert area” huh? That describes like 95% of Utah.

I’ve read a few of Ann Rule’s books, but I often try to avoid them. She has an irritating tendency to insert herself into the story (so much for objective writing) and her overuse of italics and adjectives is very unprofessional.

I recently read “Don’t Look Behind You” because I was about to get on a plane and the other books in the airport shop were even worse.

A big snore, but there were a couple of interesting things about the Joann Hansen case. Her real name was Joann, but friends called her Joan. Her husband was an abusive sleaze artist. Their daughter died of a drug overdose, the husband killed himself, and one of their sons is now a woman.

This case has interesting parallels with Ragna Gavin.

I don’t think she’s the greatest writer but the STORIES she does are good….

I’ve read some of her books, and I think she’s a good writer, but she does tend to do the same kind of story over and over again. Like “A beautiful wonderful amazing mommy +evil charming handsome crazy husband” and like that.
And she keeps going on and on about how this person is so beautiful and wonderful and smart, it’s almost like she’s trying to convince herself that’s what they are.

Speaking of beautiful and wonderful and smart, I was looking at the http://www.susanpowell.org/ site (which hasn’t been updated since the tragedy) and noticed that all of the photos of Susan are much less flattering than the ones usually shown in the news articles. Or is it just me?

      • Saffy February 24, 2012 / 12:42 am

no, i agree. The ones on tv and in the news are usually the same one or two photos. I’ve never seen these photos and I don’t remember any where she looks so heavy, dishevelled and has bad skin! In the two or three photos I’ve seen of her, she is much slimmer and looks much prettier.

Yeah, I have her listed as 5’4 and 130 pounds, which is not fat.

I guess maybe her family thought those pics were the “real Susan.” But if that was me, and somebody posted those kinds of pics of me, I’d be plenty mad. lol
She wasn’t a bad-looking woman, but Ann RUle is going to be pushing it if she decides to harp on how beautiful she is like sodes with most of her victims.
There’s some pics on the Charley Project of other mp’s that are realy unflattering. Colleen Perris is the one that comes to my mind. Eighteen years old, took a lot of care with her hair and nails, and those pics make her look so old and hard, like she’d spent time on the street or something which I know she didn’t.

A lot of them are driver’s license photos, and DL photos are NEVER flattering.

It wasn’t Susan’s family that posted the pictures, it was Josh’s family. And I can’t help but wonder if they selected unflattering photos on purpose, since they were trashing her in other ways too.

      • Saffy February 25, 2012 / 2:11 pm

probably…but say you’re looking for a missing person, who looks like they do in their wedding photos or those studio portraits? no one.
However, Josh’s family is so warped and dysfunctional, or most of them, who knows. I’d put nothing past them. The father probably knows what happened to that poor woman and was probably involved and has never come forward. Scum.
