According to MSNBC and a zillion other news outlets, the body of a woman presumed to be Shannan Maria Gilbert was found in a marsh on Long Island, only a quarter-mile from where they found some of her stuff last week.
It was Shannan’s disappearance that lead the police to find the bodies of ten other people, probably the victims of an unknown serial killer, during the search for her. But foul play is not, thus far, suspected in Shannan’s death. She ran out of a guy’s house in a panic in the middle of the night, and they think she probably got lost, got stuck in the marsh and drowned. Not a nice way to die, but preferable to being murdered.
Shannan was 23 years old.
According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, Damion Davis, the so-called father of Qua’Mere Rogers, has been sentenced to one and a third to four years in prison for first-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree assault and second-degree menacing. He had attacked and injured a woman using a metal pick attached to a screwdriver handle.
The guy pretty much personifies the “dirtbag” whom so many women on my site dated or married, to their peril. He has a long history of violence towards women. He has impregnated many women and underage girls (he’s still got statutory rape charges pending), and used a lot of false names. And he probably killed or, at the very best, sold his little son Qua’Mere, who hasn’t been seen since at least July 2007, when he was two.
