I hate you, Google Chrome

Google Chrome, you and I have had a very pleasant working relationship over the past year or two that I’ve been using you. You were a good program, quick and cooperative, even better than Firefox which had been my favorite browser before. But now…I just don’t know you anymore, Google Chrome. I feel betrayed.

It was just ONE SLIP OF THE FINGER, Chrome! Did you HAVE to delete my “missing” bookmarks folder and the HUNDREDS OF CASES I had in it? Don’t you care about missing people, Chrome? What about a “are you sure you want to delete this” message? That would have saved so much trouble. More to the point, why don’t you have an undo function in your bookmarks? It’s called CTRL-Z, Chrome! The simplest programs have it! Why don’t you? What are you so uptight about?

I feel as if I’ve discovered a very ugly character flaw in you, Chrome. A major deficiency. The more so since, reading your troubleshooting forums, people have been begging you to make an undo function in the bookmarks for years. So you can’t say you didn’t know there was a problem. You have no excuse. None whatsoever.

I suppose it could have been worse. I had made a backup several weeks ago as part of something else I was doing, so it wasn’t a total loss. But with as much internet activity as I do, several weeks is quite a lot of catching-up to do. I’m going to have to go through all the databases ALL OVER AGAIN and it’s YOUR FAULT.

If you keep this up, Chrome, I will leave you for Firefox, which may be a little slower but which has never performed such a dastardly trick on me.

there may be a chance that you could recover it from your |Bookmarks.bak| file.

If you’re on Vista, go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Chrome\User Data\Default\
    On XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Chrome\User Data\Default

(you have to have Hidden Folders enabled to see the AppData and Local Settings folders)

If you see a “Bookmarks.bak” file there, chances are that may me a backup of all your bookmarks before anything got messed up.
