Yesterday I got an email from someone asking if a woman listed as missing on my site (since 2009) was still missing. She said she was “researching” this person. I sent my standard reply that I use with such emails: As far as I know she is, but sometimes when people get located I don’t find out right away, I’m just a private citizen, you really should ask the police instead, blah blah blah.
It was only after I sent my reply that I realized, from my correspondent’s signature and her email address, that she was a debt collector.
I regard debt collectors as a life form only slightly above weasels. I’m glad I was unable to assist her.
