So where is Tieray Jones now?

My previous entry comparing the Wallace Guidroz case to the 2002 disappearance of Jahi Turner prompted me to try to find out the current whereabouts of Jahi’s stepfather, Tieray Jones. Jahi was in Tieray’s care on the day he disappeared, and Tieray is the prime suspect in his disappearance. I knew he’d gotten in trouble with the law since then but I didn’t have anything terribly recent.

Well, I learned that in 2006 in Maryland, Tieray got five years in prison after he pleaded no contest to assault in connection with a shooting. He got off pretty lightly, though; he’d initially been charged in murder (the murder happened in 2000, two years before Jahi disappeared) but there was insufficient evidence. The prosecutor called him “a menace to the community.”

Last November, Tieray was shot in the leg. (This article has a current photo of Tieray.) It was a minor injury and Tieray actually ran from the police when they arrived on the scene. He identified Tyquan Jaquese Haywood as the guy who shot him, and Haywood was jailed and charged with attempted murder. However, a few days later the police wanted to drop the case against him because they believed he was not involved in the shooting after all. No word on who actually shot Tieray or why he said Haywood did it if he did not. I found this article from 2009 about another case Haywood was involved in, that has a picture of him.

And that’s all I was able to locate. It’s certainly enough to make me want to stay away from Tieray and I would advise everyone, especially mothers of small children, to do likewise.

He sounds like a real prize. He won’t even tell the truth about who shot him, so how can anybody believe anything he might say about what happened to Jahi?

you really have to wonder about why ANY woman would go anywhere near him…including Jahi’s mother??

The thing is, she wasn’t a loser herself. I mean, she had Jahi when she was way young, but she’d joined the Navy and was trying to do some better for herself and Jahi. But you can’t make a better life if you try to hang on to things and people and habits that are part of the problem, and I guess Jahi’s mother didn’t quite get that.

I have noted before on this blog the mystery of intelligent women who could do well for themselves but wind up dating a dirt bag — or, more often, a string of dirt bags. I don’t mean that the man is uneducated, or doesn’t have a lot of money or something — I mean that they are losers, in trouble with the law a lot, substance abusers, treat the woman badly, etc.

I really don’t understand that sort of thing. Maybe it’s the whole “bad boy” attraction, or they’re motherly and think they can make him better, or what. Maybe it’s a self-esteem issue and they think they don’t deserve any better.

My mom’s first husband was a dirt bag. (Still is actually.) They were married about ten years and she had four kids by him. I asked her why they had married and she said she didn’t know.

Actually, looking at the story, Jahi’s bio father was also an ex con….looks like the mother had really horrible taste in men.

Jahi’s real father had nothing to do with this so why was his background investigated by you.. look him up now and calculate the # of years he has been a tax paying citizen.. you far from innocent people kill me with the b.s.

Hold up my son is not ex con if you don’t know the real story let’s keep our mouth shut just because his mother made bad a bad decision on the man she pick doesn’t make my son a bad father

Hi Meaghan, I’m from Baltimore and I was just scrolling through Tieray’s judicial records, which I was going to send you before seeing your latest post.

Tieray Jones aside, I’m wondering if you could do me a favor. Years ago when I first heard about your Charley site, I remember reading about a case of a man who was seen carrying a duffel bag and walking a little boy into Leakin Park. When he walked back out, the little boy was no longer with him. I can’t remember the child’s name, nor do I remember a date or time frame this happened. Is there anyway you could find this posting for me?

Leakin Park has long been known as a body dump in the Baltimore area and was the scene of the first wooded search for Phylicia Barnes when she went missing in December 2010. This general area has fascinated me for a very long time, ever since my friends told me the story of 2 priests who were struck and killed by lightening while attempting to bless the little church that sits inside Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park, just down the entrance lane of Windsor Mill Rd & Eagle Dr. If you google the area, you can still see the remains of the tree that was split open by the lightening standing alongside the church. (When I first went there in the 80’s, there was no playground, basketball or tennis courts, it was just lots of woods and fields of wildflowers on both sides. There is also a wildlife sanctuary/nature center located deep in the woods of that park not far from the church.)

I’ve often wondered about that little boy over the years, hoping one day a hiker or someone would come across his remains so he could be put to proper rest. I’ve even asked a few officers about it, but they claim to know nothing about any such case and it’s not listed on Cham’s Bodies of Leakin Park web article. Please let me know if you can remember it, or can find this story in your archives. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that. It doesn’t really say anything though.

Thank you very much, Meaghan. Timothy Washington WAS the case I was looking for. (The detail about Leakin Park was in the Doe Network write up on him.) Pretty sickening how they allowed Garrett to cop a plea without giving up Timothy’s body. He’s being held at Roxbury in Hagerstown, MD and goes up for review every year. To find out how those reviews go, I would have to write or visit him, which I’m not crazy enough to do. All detectives on Timothy’s original investigation have since retired, and far as the detective knows I was talking to this morning, there have been no follow up searches done for him over the years. Very sad. I only hope some big bubba in prison finds out Garrett’s a child killer and gives him a little street justice.

Sorry to get sidetracked from the Jahi Turner case, but I do appreciate your help. The FB page for Tieray Jones will open for you to see his wall and friends if he accepts you as a friend. I wouldn’t do it if he still lives in MD, but someone from a distance could, if they want to try to get him talking about Jahi’s case. A young woman name Miley created a page called Justice For Phylicia Simone Barnes trying to get the “person of interest” (her sisters ex boyfriend) in her case talking. He hasen’t said anything incriminating so far, but he is communicating with her and she later copies and pastes everything he says to her page. I can’t see anyone dopey enough to admit to murder on FB, but ya never know.

Lol he may be dopey enough keep pressing. I didn’t feel comfortable asking a child abductor/ possible child murder to FB with me. He is a real Criminal I noticed he likes watching the first 48 hours. Criminals watch this to learn how to hide evidence from the police.

I think you are on to something I just don’t know why there is no law enforcement on to this and pressing this punk for info. How is the mom doing? I don’t understand she was swerving our country and her child was not in good hands. I feel for her I can’t imagine what she feels each morning she wakes up and there has been no closure to this. Thank you for your post very interesting.
