Gah, going stir-crazy over here

I’m sort of stuck at my parents’ lake house right now (still Saturday in my mind, though it’s 1:00 a.m.) and will be through tomorrow at least. They don’t have broadband here, just some lousy connection through Verizon. The result is that things take forever to load, images often don’t load at all, and several times an hour the internet just clicks off entirely and you have to just sit and wait and reload in hopes that it will come on again. I really want to update Charley but I pretty much can’t.

I recently read that, compared to the rest of the developed world, the US really does not have good broadband access. Even Romania has more broadband than the US! It’s kind of like how we’re not even in the top 10 for things like life expectancy. Sometimes I fantasize about moving to Europe. (Not to Romania though.)

Still working on those NamUs tracks. The connection can sort of manage those if I’m very, very patient. And (as usual) I’ve done a lot of reading lately. Including the 960-page book I’d mentioned before.
