Robert Wykel’s killer gets 20 years

Myron Wynn, who was convicted of killing Robert Wykel last month, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. That’s the minimum sentence. I wonder why he got the minimum — murderers rarely do, unless there’s a plea bargain. Perhaps the judge thinks he’s innocent.

Wynn is 51 years old. Assuming his conviction is upheld, he will be an old man when he gets out, if he gets out at all.

was there no body? maybe that’s why…or he took a plea to a lesser charge like 2nd degree murder or manslaughter.

Yes, there is no body. And he was convicted, he didn’t take a plea bargain.

Maybe a lesser sentence in exchange for the body?

Just wondering…have you noticed more cold/old cases being solved due to new technology or have cold cases always been solved and we are hearing about it now?? Seems like, at least with murder, “you can run but you can’t hide” type of thing……..

I don’t really know. I do know that, until 1976, Connecticut had a five-year statute of limitations on murder. But I don’t know if that’s representative or not. Possibly other states had similar laws and so the police didn’t dedicate a lot of energy to “cold cases.”

There are no statutes of limitations, per se, for murder cases…especially first degree murder. His case was just discussed in the series called Murder Book; season 2 and episode 11: “Blood Diamond.” It is, also, discussed in Wikipedia under the Murder of Robert Wykel. It seems that Wynn got off easy with 20 years.
