Yay, a brand-new old NCMEC case!

James Egan, also known as Colin, missing since 1972. He’s listed as missing from Mequon, Wisconsin, but it says he was traveling between California and Wisconsin at the time of his disappearance. (I wish they would be a little more specific. That’s a lot of space.) He was 18 years old.

I looked up Mequon on Wikipedia and it says someone named James Egan was mayor between 1965 and 1971. I looked further and found this obituary for James The Mayor, who died in 1999. “He was preceded in death by a son, Colin.” Got to be James The Missing there.

In any case, I shall do a casefile for this young man forthwith.

I saw it too. Every time I see his name I can’t help but think of the Ghostbusters guy.

When I saw his picture and saw the date he went missing, all I could think was is he one of John Wayne Gacy’s unidentified victims?

Maybe. But if he was going across country anything and anybody could of happened to him.

OFF TOPIC: but…don’t you feel sorry for the old people who wander off and are never found. I wonder, weren’t they scared and wanting help? Can you imagine making it to 80 something years old only to be lost and never found.

Yes, I do feel very sorry anytime I hear about something like that. Its awful for somebody who has lived a good life and took care of themselves for years to end up helpless an dependent on other people for even just the littlest everyday things. And for them to wander off and get lost or be hurt or taken advantage of is just terrible.

I’m familiar with the family. Definitely Colin, the son, disappeared during hitchhiking in California.

I wonder what his family history is, do they think he took off or did he meet with danger while hitchhiking?

He was hitching to Denver to meet up with us before going home. He never showed up. He was very close to his family, and I have always believed foul play. I don’t believe he ever made it out of California…it was devastating for all of his family and friends…

can you share any more information you may have? i’ve become very fascinated with this case, mainly because the young Colin looks so much like someone I know.
