Donald Martin, the father of Eugene Wade Martin, one of the missing paperboys from Des Moines, Iowa, died of Alzheimer’s Disease and colon cancer a few days ago. He was relatively young, only 65 years old. Eugene’s mother is also deceased. I’m not sure whether his stepmother is still alive, though I do know that she and the father got a divorce sometime after Eugene’s 1984 disappearance. The article includes a picture of Donald.
And over in Connecticut, Erika Marie Cirioni‘s older brother, Dominic, committed suicide. He was 36 years old. Their mother says the siblings were very close and she thinks Erika’s disappearance played a major role in Dominic’s death. I found his obituary and it says one sister, Lori, predeceased him, but it lists Erika as still living. Their mother is raising Erika’s two sons.
That is so sad. She’s lost two kids for sure and one for probably.
Meaghan has written at least one article before on MP parents dying young, as well as the obvious with them passing before they know what has happened to their child/spouse, etc. It is very, very tragic. I can’t imagine going through that for years or decades.
I don’t know how someone could take away a child and not feel any remorse for the pain they have caused. I do feel that because of Eugene being kidnapped caused the worsening of his parents illness. They’re all together now. And I hope the guilt eats the person/persons responsible alive!
Erika Cirioni’s body has been found. So sad that her mother has lost 3 children.
I knew this Dominic. He was always around our neighborhood. I remember a few years back not one but two little girls pointed him out for sexually assaulting them. Wonder how the case is going now. No sympathy from me. Maybe it was guilt.
