I don’t read alot of nonfiction, but I recently read The Secret Hour by Louann Rice, about a serial killer stashing his victims in breakwalls(jetties). One of the characters says,(this is not verbatim, just approx) “Peopls are always talking about shark attacks happening close to shore. Well, that’s just because that’s where the swimmers are- But the sharks are EVERYWHERE and people just don’t think that way…they would never go in the water if they knew how many are out there…It’s the same with serial killers. We lock one up and people think they’re safe…but there are so many more predators out there…”

Some of these are pretty open and shut, but a lot of them you might do better to put a question mark after their names.

You left out Lawrence Bittaker’s two missing victims:
Lucinda Schaefer and Andrea Joy Hall

I frequently drive down Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach, and every time I pass St Andrews Church on PCH and Avenue D, I think of Lucinda Schaefer and the unspeakably horrible death she must have suffered.

Lucinda was walking to her Grandmother’s home from St. Andrews when she was abducted and then tortured and murdered by Bittaker and Norris.

Oops, Justin Beat me to the comment.

Virginia Rambus could have been one of the green river victims. There are some who are still unidentified and some who have never been found, because we don’t know how many in total he killed. It mentions other women in the area who were missing and Green River was active around that time.

    • Meaghan November 22, 2010 / 10:38 am

      That occured to me too.

    • Justin December 20, 2010 / 8:27 pm

It’s possible Rambus was a victim of Ridgway, however she had no known history of prostitution, while the majority of Ridgway’s victims had a history of prostitution.

You did A LOT OF WORK!!! wow…………
I thought they caught the guy for Cassandra Hailey and Richard Call. A guy who’s dad was an FBI agent and the dad turned his son in. Or was that just an educated guess on the police dept’s part that he was the killer. It was on a show on tv about serial killers. The guy in this case would target couples. Just wondering.

    • Meaghan November 22, 2010 / 10:46 am

Never heard anything about that. I don’t watch TV.

      • danielle November 23, 2010 / 12:09 am

sorry, I had the wrong couple…….the couple who was murdered and the killer’s dad turned him in was in a similar situation.

  6. Princess Shantae November 22, 2010 / 12:20 pm

Oh and you forgot Ara Johnson.

  7. J.A. Scrambles-Ashmole, Bart. November 22, 2010 / 3:00 pm

Missing young woman, dark hair parted in the middle? Ka-ching! Ring it up to Ted Bundy.

    • forthelost November 22, 2010 / 5:16 pm

Which would exclude Ann-Marie Burr, as she’s blond.

      • J.A. Scrambles-Ashmole, Bart. November 22, 2010 / 6:34 pm

Trying to clear a cold case casefile? Ka-ching! Regardless of hair colour, ring it right up to ol’ Teddy B.

  8. Princess Shantae November 22, 2010 / 8:03 pm

I always had my doubt about Anne Marie and Ted Bundy. I mean, of course he could of done it but just b/c he was around at the time don’t mean he did every unsolved murder in town.
Not all Bundy’s victims had the dark hair parted in the side either. Some were blonde or strawberry blond.
If he did Anne Marie, how’d he hide her so good she was never found? He wouldn’t of had a car at the time unless he stole one but if he did that you’d think it would get mentioned in her case.

    • forthelost November 22, 2010 / 8:14 pm

I have my doubts too. I also wonder if Kristi Vorak was really a Green River victim. She didn’t really fit the profile, and as far as I know Ridgeway never has confessed to killing her.

    • Meaghan November 22, 2010 / 11:57 pm

I think they were digging a road or something near where Ann Marie disappeared and there was speculation that her body could have been hidden at the construction site without anyone noticing.

  9. Princess Shantae November 22, 2010 / 9:05 pm

He was never real clear about who or how many he killed and could never put names to faces. Kristi might not of been a hooker but all he’d have to do was ask her if she wanted a ride somewhere and if she said yes which she probably would if she hung out on the streets, then he’d have her.
But I agree that if these guys did every single murder they can possibly be connected with then they wouldn’t of had time to eat or sleep or do anything else.

    • forthelost November 23, 2010 / 12:13 pm

And of course Henry Lee Lucas confessed to about a million murders, one of which he couldn’t have committed because he was in jail at the time.

  10. LBF November 23, 2010 / 2:13 pm

Royal Russell Long is also possibly connected to the disappearances of Deborah Meyer and Carlene Brown:

    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/meyer_deborah.html
    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/brown_carlene.html

Wesley Shermantine — Chevelle Wheeler and Cynthia Vanderheiden, amongst others: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/wheeler_chevelle.html
    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/v/vanderheiden_cynthia.html

Mack Ray Edwards and his alleged multitude of child victims, some of whom he may have put under highways (he was a heavy equipment operator in CA):
    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/madison_roger.html

Great work — too bad this can’t be added to periodically.

  11. Princess Shantae November 23, 2010 / 4:20 pm

Some people collect coins or play ball or make knick nacks for a hobby. Henry Lee Lucas confessed to things he never did. He even said he took the poison Kool Aid to Jonestown and also got rid of Jimmy Hoffa. Yeah, Henry, get in line behind all the mobsters that did Hoffa in.
Makes you wonder if he killed anybody at all aside from the few that they know for almost sure.

    • Meaghan November 23, 2010 / 5:25 pm

There are some people who believe he only ever killed his mom and that’s it.

      • forthelost November 23, 2010 / 6:48 pm

My sister says he only killed three or four people. Including his mother.

  12. Kat November 23, 2010 / 4:32 pm

This is a good list for known MPs, but let’s not forget those who have and will remain unidentified and victims of known serial killers.

  13. Princess Shantae November 23, 2010 / 7:06 pm

Yeah, some of the Green River killer’s victims are still Jane Does. He wasn’t any help there b/c he’s 1. a liar and 2. not too bright.
There’s Orange Socks, that Henry Lee Lucas was sent to death row for killing and later had his sentence comuted. They never did find out who she is. And now they say he probably didn’t kill her either b/c he claims he raped her but she wasn’t raped, and if he did he would of probably caught her VD.
He killed his mother and he almost surely killed Otis Toole’s niece Becky Powell, and probably the old lady they met and sponged off of. Beyond that who knows? Toole finally did get linked from DNA to Adam Walsh but Lucas wasn’t with him or in Florida at the time.

  14. danielle November 23, 2010 / 9:57 pm

Skylar DeLeon killed another man too, before Jackie and Tom Hawk, and it was also a scam. Skylar and his wife are worthless.

    • Meaghan November 23, 2010 / 10:03 pm

That’s why I listed Skylar as a serial killer.

  15. Justin December 20, 2010 / 8:40 pm

This is a really great list you put together. A couple notes:

    1. The victims listed under Ridgway (Lee, Marrero, Mcginness, and Osborn) are definitely victims of Gary Ridgway. In fact, with Lee and McGinness, Ridgway told detectives where they could find their bodies. However, detectives were unable to find them at those locations, partly due to land development.

    2. Darci Warde (listed under unknown) is likely to be a victim of Gary Ridgway. Although I can understand why you put her in the unknown category. There is no hard evidence, but she fits the victim profile and I suspect that investigators believe he is responsible.

    • forthelost December 26, 2010 / 9:23 pm

Krist Vorak is the one I really wonder about. Not only does she not fit the profile, as far as I know Ridgeway never confessed to killing her.

  16. Donna Smith June 23, 2012 / 8:01 am

I don’t belive that 1979 was Bittaker or Norris first rampage. Without disclosing to much info as to why I strongly feel this way. I would like to know if anyone has the unidentified girls photos they found in the van I would like to view them. I was a teenager and that show EVIL I , has just made the nightmares (I worked years to regress) return even though that was 35 years ago. Does anyone know if either of them worked the freeway from Bakersfield to Stockton California? Where were these two in 1976/77 Summer?

  17. Rasec January 18, 2013 / 4:08 pm

As you indicate your list is only of MPs, it would have been great to include MPs who were later found dead and presumed to have been victims of a serial killer.

In the Cynthia May Hernandez case the POI is Manuel Trinidad Cortez. In the Robin Ann Graham one POI is Bruce Davis and in the wikipedia article for her it mentions other names who may have fallen victim to the same culprit (assuming there is in fact a serial killer behind the killings).

  18. Still_Seek_Answers October 3, 2013 / 6:27 am

You missed Debora Sue lowe……..suspected victim of Gerard Schaefer

  19. Cyntrenna Palmer August 10, 2014 / 9:37 pm

You’re right on the money with Lucious Boyd murdering Patrece “Trece” Alston. I knew them both. She stopped by my house before leaving that day. Lucious came back the next day and Trece hasn’t been heard from since. Lucious was an embalmer/mortician for the family business. He knows how to get rid of a body!!!!

  20. Troy Perry August 27, 2017 / 4:02 am

Why did you put Brian George for Kacey Perry it was more likely her dad and George helped cover it up.

    • Meaghan August 27, 2017 / 4:04 am

Um, because he confessed and because he’s been publicly named as a suspect?

  21. christie clement March 26, 2019 / 1:13 pm

Yes, my sister Darci Renae Ward was murdered by Gary Ridgeway. When I spoke to the detective on the case, Gary remembered my sister, this is sickening to hear what was said, but he said he remembered her and her friend as the”sweetest girls”. No one has ever found her body after all these years either. I have always dreamed of putting her to rest for good. Maybe some day
