This morning I woke up in quite as much pain as I was last night. I took some Excedrin Migraine (with no hope of success, but I figure, I might as well try), put an ice pack on my head and tied it into place with a bandana. Then I lay down on the living room couch and commenced to moaning and screaming.
Eventually Michael woke up and asked if I would like to go to the hospital. I said no, so he suggested the urgent care clinic. I said okay and he drove me there. It was a busy day there and the time I spent waiting could have been measured geologically. There was this little girl, about two years old, in the waiting room who kept screaming. She didn’t appear to be sick or upset, she just felt like screaming a lot, and her father did nothing to stop her. Of course this did nothing for my headache. After over an hour of this I wanted to murder both of them. Finally Michael got up and went to the receptionist and reminded her that there was a woman with a severe migraine headache in the same room with a screeching baby so could someone please do something about that? She bumped me up the list.
They gave me Demerol and I feel loads better now. My head no longer hurts — for the first time in like five days — and I feel pleasantly loopy.
Mom says I should get an MRI to see why I’ve been getting all these headaches lately. Just like three weeks ago I had a bad one that lasted several days and finally I had to go to my family doctor for a shot.

Honestly if you hurt so bad you are screaming and it lasts so longand nothing you take works you realy should be in the ER. That is not a normal headache or even a normal migraine.
Demerol works wonders. yeah, you should go to the doctor’s.
Have your sinuses checked. Pressure changes can cause horrendous headaches/
Hate to burst your bubble, but Demerol is synthetic – not an opium derivative. It works though!! 🙂
Hope you feel better for good. You should have your headaches checked again though. Get MRIs with and without contrast. Do you have any other problems other then the headaches? chron.com has an article on the arrest of a suspect for the murder of teen Krystal Baker back in March of 96. They are wondering if he is connected to the murder of Laura Smither in of April of 97 and the disappearance of Jessica Cain in August of 97.
I started having horrible headaches this summer, sop bad I would throw up over and over. I would also have to have shots to stop the pain and onther shot to keep from throwing up. I’m surprised they didnt’ order a ct scan to rule out tumor, hemorage etc as they did me…Anyway, turns out I had a horrible sinus infesction, without any other “typical” sinus infection symptoms. They sent me to an allergy doc who did a week of prednisone, now I do a couple shots in each nose at night before bed and 180 allegra in the morning, if I miss a dose I get a headache and start throwing up from the pain again. I would bet it’s allergy related to something in the air.
Meaghan you poor thing! I have migraines too, not as bad you though. My stars! I hope that demerol lasts and your headache doesn’t come back.

Hope everything is ok. Watch the opiates though, that painless loopy feeling can lead to addiction, speaking from experience. Take care.
