Misty Croslin gets 25 years

According to 48 Hours, Misty Croslin, one-time stepmother of Haleigh Cummings and now a suspect in her disappearance, got 25 years for charges in unrelated drug trafficking case. Misty is only, I think, 19 years old. All the other parties in the case — including Haleigh’s father Ronald (Misty’s ex-husband), Misty’s brother Tommy, Ronald’s cousin, and a friend — have gotten 15 years. I wonder why Misty got more time. Her status as a suspect in Haleigh’s disappearance might be the reason — though, officially, the one case should not be connected to the other.

I agree, Meaghan. I think if she wasn’t as high profile as she was/is she would have gotten a lesser sentence. Maybe this is supposed to be incentive for her to talk (illegal as it may be…..) “tell us where Haleigh is and you’ll get xxxx off the sentence”.

I don’t think 25 years is a just sentence for non-violent drug offenses in any case.

Didn’t work though. She never did tell what she knew about Haleigh.
She might be 19 but she is a very old 19. Hard too.

Her sister in law, Chelsea, said a guy sold 500 pills and got 5 years. It is due to the missing child plus, the family is seen a trashy. yes, 25 years is too long, but she does need some type of consequence. She is a first time offender so I’m not sure how I feel.

she gained a lot of weight too. Probably due to being off drugs, no exercise and less than healthy food.

They should sterilize her as well, so she can never give birth to another child. Baby killers need to be dealt with most severely so they can never harm another kid!

Misty doesn’t have any children, as far as I know.

Who’s to say they don’t have a mole-type cellmate lined up for her who might FINALLY get some information out of her??

As said above, 25 years for a non-violent offense is an atrocity, a mockery of justice.

You can murder your own child and get less. (I read somewhere that parents who kill their children get the shortest average sentence for murder, but I don’t know if that’s accurate.)

it’s way too easy to kill a child in this country.
