The police aren’t saying, but the man whose home and yard were searched earlier this week says they were looking for Michaela Garecht, a nine-year-old who was abducted from Hayward, California in 1988.
In this article the man, David Jensen, says the search came because of a made-up story his adult son told about witnessing Michaela’s murder and burial. Jensen is upset because his backyard and house got pretty torn up during the search. The police aren’t saying if they found anything significant.

My money is still on Timothy Binder as being behind Michaela’s kidnaping.
He was in Hayward that day, I think they know that much.
Binder is either very clever, or very lucky. I’ve always wondered exactly what he was up to.
Yeah he was in Hayward failing some kind of fireman test. If he didn’t take Michaela and Amber Swartz and Amanda Campbell and anybody else then he was just about stupid to keep encriminating himself the way he did. Somebody that crazy would show up crazy in other ways too and so far as I know he hasn’t. I think he got off on bothering the kids families and the cops as much as he got off kidnaping little girls.
I think he just likes the attention he gets.
Or he’s just insane.
But like I said, for him to be so crazy that he makes himself the #1 suspect even if he is inocent, he would be crazy in other ways too and probably couldn’t work the kind of jobs he did.
Again, very clever or very stupid. Not many people would risk that kind of lifelong attention and, more importantly, suspision, for kicks. I think he had something to do with something, somewhere. Will it be found or proven? Dunno. Look at that Herzog dude about to get out…it’s a matter of where the bodies are.
Remember they traced one of the little girl’s scent to the grave of that other little girl that Binder admited to visiting to lie on and drink beer. The one that was killed by her mom’s boy friend. To enjoy going to somebody’s gave to lay on it and drink is pretty perverted right there. The fact that the missing girl’s scent would up there with you says a whole lot.
I think he’s one of those people that likes to see how close he can get to the fire before he gets burnt or how many times he can rob the same store before they catch him.
Angela Bugay, I think is what you are talking about. I thought they traced Campbell’s scent there too…
Yeah, I think Binder just loves the attention. However, I find it hard to believe he hasn’t ever molested kids in his past. I’ve always felt after reading the book ‘Stalemate’ that Binder knows he’s got a problem and was asking for help subconsciously- somewhat begging the police to arrest him for something. The way he was tormenting these missing girls families wasn’t normal in any sense. More like a cry for help.
Thats pretty generous. Its all a little too show offish to sound like any cry for help thing to me.
And theres no other reason for any of those missign kid’s scent to be on him or his stuff than that he was with them.
I understand what you’re saying, but remember, this sick bastard physically visited the grave sites of deceased girls, all the while knowing the heat was on him. Generous, no. Let me ask you, does Tim Binder fit in any way the profile of the person who abducted Michaela Garecht? My personal feeling is that if they catch who abducted Michaela, then the rest will fall into place. It was a bold move, in daylight, with her friend present. Phillip Garrido held some initial promise, the car and all, but back in the late 80’s, many had that same looking car.
And mind you, he visited Bugay’s grave all the time, and he didn’t have anything to do with her death.
It was pretty bold for Tim Binder to be sending cards to strange girls too which lead right back to him, and to be talking so much to Amber’s mom. ANd don’t forget the missign girl’s scents showign up right with his scent on Angela’s grave and all.
Ok, the way Michaela was grabbed in the daytime was bold, but if he was already upset over failing his fireman test that same day, he might not of been so careful. And the other girls were also taken in broad daylight, just not with people right there to see.
His whole mo is to be as bold and daring as he can.
And also dont forget he told Amber’s mom there’d be another girl kidnaped and that she’d be nine or ten and sure enough, there is Michaeala. And that bday card with the kid holding up four fingers, right before Amanda Campbell gets snatched at the age of four.
One or two coincedences are one thing, but there is just too many here.
I dont think Binder has any involvement in the cases. I think the kidnapper of Jaycie Dugard was involved in Garecht’s disappearance.
My sister has said that.
She was probably one of the only people saying it before Dugard was found, though.
I think Binder was just toying with the investigators to garner some attention. There is nothing illegal of visiting a child’s grave, even if it is not your child. The info about the scent being traced to the grave is probably misleading…dogs often make false positives when food or decaying flesh (which they can smell from underground) may have thrown them off. The tracing of the scent really cant be considered major evidence, nor can the Christmas cards. Is Binder involved? I dont think so. Does he know someone who is involved or knows someone who knows the killers? Quite possibly. They should be looking at his associates. I also think the Amber Garcia case had nothing to do with Binder or the other girls, the man who killed her admitted to her abduction and it wasnt connected to any of the others I think. I think personally that Dugard’s abductors abducted the older children. I dont know how the Amanda Campbell case is related to them.
Hi there. I’m Michaela’s mom. I don’t really think Tim had anything to do with Michaela’s case. Not impossible, but unlikely, since we have an eyewitness and he really does not look like our kidnapper. The primary physical characteristic of Michaela’s kidnapper was really bad acne, like boils, on his face. And by the way, I am not convinced that Amber Swartz’ case is solved either. Oddly, I think the guy who confessed might have done so in order to hurt Amber’s case.

Hello Mrs. Murch, My sister and I had also as children dealt with that creep in the van. He attempted to kidnap my sister in a parking lot after showing her a photograph he had of her. He also picked me up and never did anything to me but I remember him saying he lived across the street from us down the street from a blue school at the time. This person is obsessed with young girls but I didn’t think would murder anyone but you never know. So later in the years, I had a baby at age 19 and went to Reno with my fake i.d. a man resembling the photo of Timothy approached me and took me in his two door older sports car and wanted to ‘keep me’ but I told him I was nursing a baby so although I didn’t like him, I was young and dumb and gave him my phone #. He visited but never made a sexual move on me but left my room to ‘tuck in’ a ten year old girl I had babysat…it took 30 years to realize this child was probably sexually abused. I reached out to her father who was angry at me for not protecting his daughter. His daughter resembled Irene Misheloff and that was about the same time as her abduction, I lived across from the Mervyns in Dublin. I have contacted the police but they think it’s just another maybe… if this is the same guy, he would wear blue jeans with a button up shirt tucked in with a belt and drove a 2 door car (1988-89) but I didn’t see what he drove to see me in early 89, he was also a photographer and had a very nice camera. My prayers go out to all the families of missing children, there are just way too many creeps out there. Jori Nunes
