Malibu body is Mitrice Richardson

The bone found in Malibu, California earlier this week, not very far from where Mitrice Richardson was last seen, have been identified as hers. The cause of death hasn’t been determined — and probably won’t be, given the decomposition — but the cops are saying there’s no indication of foul play. It looks like Mitrice just wandered away and kept wandering until she died of exposure or thirst or snakebite or whatever.

This was a tragic end to a very promising life. I feel so sorry for Mitrice’s family. Articles:

Ugh, this is so sad. I was really holding out hope for the lady in Las Vegas. But I’m glad at least the family has an answer, and a body to bury, as so many other families of Charley people don’t.

Oh, I remember this. It was all over the news when it happened, I read the PEOPLE magazine about her. It’s quite sad, I was hoping for happier news.

I had a suspicion that her remains would be found in the overgrown area and that she had died of exposure while looking for a place to sleep. Don’t know if the later will be proven, but I thought that was probable. I have also tried to find some isolated place to sleep outdoors where I didn’t have to worry about being messed with when I couldn’t find a campground or hostel when I was doing some long distance cycling.

I remember earlier you predicted the case would end exactly as it did. Either you are very smart or you KILLED HER YOURSELF. Which is it, Justin? Huh? Huh?

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me.

A sad way to learn that one must always carry, possess, or have knowledge in defending one’s self. What a shame and a lesson to be learned from.

Can’t wait for more media spin from the police.

At least her parents can bury her for some closure.

    RIP Mitrice

Does burial really buy closure to a parent of a murdered child of theirs?

It doesn’t bring total peace of mind, but at least they won’t spend the rest of their lives thinking that she might be out there needing their help.

I think the concept of closure is overrated. But the parents of a missing child would rather know for sure they were dead than be left wondering for the rest of their lives.

Women, imo, should be required by Law to be proficiently trained in self-defense and to maintain a status similar or perhaps known as a Black Belt in Martial Arts, much like a maintaining a valid driver‘s license. To not be proficient at protecting one’s self, puts that burden onto the tax-payers which is not fair in any context. Educate yourself people, it is not my problem is you cannot protect yourself to actions you willingly pursue.

I just want to clarify what I meant by closure for Mitrice’s family.

I doubt there is any true closure when one buries a child. I don’t think it matters whether it was an illness, accident or murder.

The closure I mean is Mitrice’s family now knows she will never come home alive. There is no more wondering is she is in Vegas (or wherever). No more hanging by every beeper/phone ring.

Who knows how the family will handle the grief after the burial, but I’m glad the unknown is gone. Too bad it wasn’t retrieving a screaming, kicking Mitrice from Vegas back to home. 😦

    @michellefrommadison

WTH are you babbling about? How does this even related to the subject?

IF someone killed Mitrice, after she was wandering in the brush for a few days, I’m sure no self defense class would help ANYONE who is (most likely) confused/weak from dehydration and mental illness.

Every drug addict/mentally ill person who bites it must warm your little Libertarian/Republican heart. One less person on the dole. One more soul for G_d.

Must be hell having the personal mantra of “It sucks to be them/you.”

She is a troll, Nan. She’s just saying idiotic things to upset people. I’ve made it so that all of her comments are automatically marked as spam and not posted — I’m tired of her hijacking my website.
