Death sentence in Everilda Watson murder

John Watson III has been sentenced to death for the 2006 murder of his wife Everilda Perez Watson, also known as Eve and Evie. Her body was never found. In letters sent from jail, John admitted he cooked and ate part of the body. (The conviction and sentence was actually last month, but I didn’t find out about it till now.)

It seems like the chances of John’s actually being executed are pretty slim, the death sentence non-withstanding. He is currently 70 years old. I think the average wait time on death row is ten or twelve years, meaning he’d probably be at least 80 when his turn comes. That’s assuming he doesn’t decide to waive his appeals and get it over with. Which he just might do; he apparently requested his death sentence.

One article I found says John confessed to raping and killing a hitchhiker back in 1967, but he was released without charge because the police couldn’t find her body. It’s not clear whether this hitchhiker was an identified missing person or not.

Did you see Dateline the other night? It was about Debbie Hawk’s disappearance and her husband was convicted of her murder eventhough there is no forensic evidence against him. He allegely stole money from the kids’ trust fund and Debbie found out and that was the presumed motive for the murder. They were in the middle of a divorce. They had 3 kids. Only one daughter believes the dad. (or does she really believe him or is she in denial?)

May be on the computer now that the show aired on Dateline’s site. FYI

Shades of Albert Fish. I hope he kills himself and saves the taxpayers some money.

This guy is a real sicko. I don’t understand how someone with his background was able to become a high school teacher.

Some people hide their evil very well. I think when you apply for a job, they check to see if you have any felony convictions, not felony charges. I’ve heard many stories about the wives and children of serial killers who had no clue dear old dad’s other proclivities until after they were caught.

Although this isn’t the same thing, there was this woman who successfully pretended to be a man named Billy Tipton who for several decades, had a common law wife and adopted the wife’s three children, and none of them including the wife knew that she wasn’t a man until she collapsed and died in 1989 and the paramedics who was working on her asked one of the adult sons who was there if his father had a sex change. The kid got the shock of his life when he looked to see what he was talking about.

Is the Charley Project main site down for anyone else? Just as a heads up for you, Meaghan — and if it IS just me, my apologies for the bother!

The article at the Daily Bulletin at http://www.dailybulletin.com/ci_5413746?source=pkg states that the female hitchhiker was supposedly from Louisiana, but he killed her in Oklahoma and burried her body in the edge of the Arbuckle Mountains.

Police in the nearby town of Bethany had a report of a missing woman who fit the description Watson gave in his alleged confession.

The sheriff in Murray County, Okla., scoured three counties in the southern part of the state near the Texas border trying to find the body.

Searchers found nothing, leading them to doubt whether the murder ever happened, according to the article.

I don’t know if this fits the discription of any missing persons, but I cannot find a link on the Charley Project that would seem to be a likely candidate.

Her name was Everilda Duran Watson, I am her son, well, one of the 3. My father showed signs of peculiar behavior all throughout my childhood. But he was a respectful school teacher, after being crazy, he tried very hard to step away from his past, but out of fear for his money and self inflicted paranoia, he killed my mama’, it’s grueling and made me a very angry high schooler. But now i am 21, and trying to live a life my mom could have been proud of. Any information you would like, I can be reached at my facebook.

Search for “Richard Andrew Watson” Thanks for hearing me out, I’m a regular kid, two older, more successful brothers, that got the “Shit end of the stick”, so to speak. Take care.

I know that it was reported that letters claimed he cooked and ate part of her body, but does anyone know anything about those letters? Who provided that information? Can anyone confirm that letter?
