Eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling was abducted at gunpoint by a masked man near his St. Joseph, Minnesota home over twenty years ago. The case got a lot of press attention at the time and since, but to all appearances had been gathering dust over the last several years. Now, it looks like there’s a break.
The police are swarming around a farm near Jacob’s home, having obtained a search warrant in his case. Very little information is available, as the police are not disclosing anything, but they seem to be removing furniture and barrels from the property. This article says a reporter called the residence but the woman who answered refused to comment. There’s an aerial photo of the search site.
I am not going to rejoice yet; I have seen too many bursts of activity on cold cases lead to nothing. But this search cannot be anything other than good. It shows that the police are still working on Jacob’s case and that they had enough evidence to get a warrant against someone. Even if they don’t find Jacob or the person who took him, at least they might be able to rule out some suspects and/or theories.
So I send virtual hugs to the Wetterling family and wait.

This is one of the most haunting cases I’ve ever seen. I hope, for everything, that something, ANYTHING comes out of this. The unusual circumstances of this…..every parent’s nightmare.
I also hope for a resolution. I have read some of the other articles and in one Patty Wetterling believes they are just going over all the evidence and tips from the beginning again the couple “who are in their 80’s and live with one of their sons” were in europe at the time Jacob was abducted and Mrs. Wetterling also stated they are the niciest people in the world or something to that effect. One of the other articles also has good information about “Jared” the boy that was abducted raped and released 10 months before Jacob in Cold Spring I believe this is the towns name.
I was just thinking about Jacob the other day. Its crazy when you look at the photos of these children and realise they would be grown men by now. I hope they find Jacob.
I hope they will find something but in a lot cases they don’t find anything, like recently in the Haleigh Cummings case. However, they must have some good reason to go and search there again, maybe this time they’ll find something useful.
Let’s hope the Wetterling family will get some closure!

I was going to email you about this question but thought I should put it here publicly so if anyone else knows the answer they can give it.
I noticed that on the profile on Charley Project and other missing persons websites all say the same thing: that the two boys with Jacob stated the man who took Jacob was wearing a mask.
However I am stymied as there are sketches of what Jacobs abductor looked like. Anyone have anymore on this? I think it’s odd that a big deal has always been made about the fact he wore a mask to obscure his identity yet we have sketches of him.
I believe the sketches are actually of a man seen following the boys earlier and acting creepy, who is theorized to be the abductor.
Depending on the kind of mask, the boys might have gotten an idea of what the guy looked like–the shape of his face, etc.

At the Spokane County sheriffs office he works there using David and Kyle. Heres a license plate 599vvs or 799 vvs. Hes using different license plates. He also has a place in Boyce ,Virginia.
