Debra Wilhite’s daughter writes a book

I just found out that the only surviving child of Debra Wilhite, Misty Walker, has written a book about her life. The book, callied Little Misty, is a memoir of Misty’s childhood, which was by any standard a remarkably tragic one.

Misty was only eighteen months old when her nineteen-year-old mother, Debra, mysteriously disappeared in 1974. The disappearance has never been solved. According to a recent article, the police have some suspects but they’re all dead, and the case has been cold for a long time. Shortly after Debra disappeared, her older daughter, Amy Sue, was diagnosed with leukemia. By the time Misty was three, her father was dead, killed when his car was hit by a train. Two years later, when Misty was five, her sister Amy died of the leukemia.

Misty was raised by her grandmother. Now, she lives in Florida. She occasionally does stand-up comedy and did one comedy show to benefit the search for Jennifer Kesse who disappeared in 2006. I’ll have to see about getting a copy of that book, though it may be difficult because it was self-published.

It amazes me how much comedy and tragedy can exist in the same life.

Meaghan, I found an article that had some comments below it. Someone said it’s available at Barnes and Noble and amazon.com. I checked and it is available at amazon.com. The title is Little Misty, My Big Red Button by Misty Lynn Walker and it’s $12.50 at amazon.

How amazingly resilient she is. God bless her. Just when you think you have had it rough…

Hello, this is Misty, Debra Wilhite’s daughter. My book is available through createspace.com, amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and numerous other online outlets. Because it was self-published, it won’t actually be on a shelf in any stores, but you ‘are’ able to walk into any Barnes and Noble and order it through them directly if one prefers not to order online. To whomever posted this, thank you so much for bringing the book to light. Writing the book was quite a refreshing and healing thing for me to do. I wrote about the things you mentioned, as well as numerous other hardships and triumphs, many things that alot of others would not want the general public to know. But, I sucked it up and released it in the hopes that it would help others to know that I did overcome, and that they can too.
    Much Love,
    Misty Lynn
