Not too long ago I talked about headaches I get that last forever. Well, I have had a headache, pretty much continuously, since Wednesday night. It kind of moves around my head — one part of my head hurts and then an hour later that part feels fine and another part hurts. The pain is not excruciating, but it’s always there, and it’s been three and a half days now. Chronic pain is so exhausting. I am really sleep-deprived as well, because I keep taking these pain pills that have a boatload of caffeine in them. So it’s either I stay awake because my head hurts, or I fall asleep and then wake up way too early because I’m jittery from caffeine. I went to bed last night around ten-thirty or eleven, and woke up at two-thirty, and I’ve been up ever since. Those pills don’t work that well anyway.
Anyway, I’m not feeling terribly productive right now. About the best I can do is read books and review them on my Goodreads account. I really hope I don’t wind up having to go to the doctor for another shot. Groan. This couldn’t have come at a worst time. There’s the Charley backup, of course, and I’ve also got some other things I need to do that I need my wits for. I must have picked up some bad karma somewhere.
Feel better soon. Like I said before, check into nerve pressure, it can affect everything from eating to body pain….not me but my stepmom has it and it sucks bad but there is treatment stuff…anyway take care and we all will see you when you get back!
Sounds like you have migraines and that you are taking Fiornal for them. Have you seen the neurologist yet? Do you have health insurance? I’ve resorted to taking sudafed and actifed (had my pharmacist and doctor work together on this). I also just started using the nasal bath. The sinuses and migraines are my #1 & 2.
According to my neurologist, sinus problems are precursors to migraines.
Oh, take food with the Fiornal, it will cut down on the jitters.
I lost my insurance not too long ago, unfortunately. I’m hoping to be able to get back on my parents’ plan. The new health care law says people under 26 can be on their parents’ plans.
I’ve never been to a neurologist and I don’t think I could benefit from it. Migraines are a family curse. My mother, sister, aunt and grandmother have all suffered from them.
But my headache has finally stopped! It feels so good not to have a headache anymore.
One non-drug thing can suggest is to keep yourself hydrated. I suffered for many years from terrible headaches, and found that hydrating myself really cut down on the frequency and severity. Doesn’t cost anything!
Feel better and you deserve the rest.
Dear Meaghan, you shouldn´t feel like you have to apologize for not feeling well. Your faithful readers will be here when you get better and feel up to working on your site again. Take your time, nothing is more important than your health!
could your migraines be triggered by food? I got migraines and after years, went to the dr. got meds and a food test…
Triggers:
Cheddar/aged cheese (only sharp in small amts)
Dairy
Citrus (no more orange juice for me..ever)
Aspertaine–in diet drinks, yogurts, and lots of juices …have to check ingrediants
acid foods like tomatoes…
Could be all or one but just a thought
sounds like a lot to avoid, but after doing so I feel soooooo much better. Also, the comment about lots of water is good—yes hydration is important
I’m so sorry you’re feelin’ puny! Take your time and stop feelin’ bad for us, we all appreciate you and the time, energy and sacrifices you have made. The mom in me always wants to pat ya on the back and comfort you when you’re down, can’t help it! A friend of mine says I have had a sh*t cloud hangin over me for years…think that same cloud dumps on you too! 🙂 Feel better soon. 🙂
The best advice I ever got regarding migraines was to keep a headache diary to try to identify triggers. For a lot of people their migraine triggers are foods. For me it turned out to be cats and dust.
Meaghan-
Have you tried eating fresh fruits and veggies? Or maybe exercise? I find if I take a daily walk or just get fresh air that I feel like a whole new person. It’s amazing what eating right can do for you. Also, I have noticed that positive human interaction really helps me feel good. Limit yourself to one soda a week and no fried foods, and I promise that you will see a difference.
I hope this helps you. Sometimes very simple solutions are all that are required. Taking a look at family situations can help relieve stress/tension, as well. if you have a strained family perhaps you suffer from tension headaches. Just a thought…
Best wishes!
Robert
