Suspected Green River murder victim identified

The cops have identified a suspected Green River Killer victim as sixteen-year-old Angela Marie Girdner, who disappeared back in 1983. She wasn’t reported missing until 1985, though. This is the first time I’ve heard of her. She looks like such a pretty girl in the picture. Very blue eyes.

The police actually misplaced her bones (something that happens more often than you’d think; it happened to one of Ted Bundy’s victims), but they found them and were able to identify them based on dental records. This article has some more detail. Gary Leon Ridgway insists that he didn’t kill Angela, but the cops kind of doubt it. It’s my understanding that he pleaded guilty to 48 murders in King County, Washington and got a life sentence. If they can pin any murders on him outside the county, the process starts all over again and he could be sentenced to death.

Rest in peace, Angela.

Ironic how killers (serial in this case) “enjoy” killing and hide their involvment, but then try to get out of the death penalty. This killer is probably denying the killing so he won’t have the chance at the death penalty. Cops are usually good at figuring out who killed when it’s a major crime like the greeriver.

Meaghan: how are you at the holidays? for some reason my depression episodes (going on 6th year of meds and clinical depression) seems to be worse at holidays, although I am used to them since I’ve had it for so long. when I say had it for so long, I mean meds and treatment.
I think I was undiagnosed for a long time.

I’ve actually been feeling pretty okay this Christmas. Usually I absolutely dread the holiday and am in much misery as it approaches, because we in my family pretty much can’t stand each other and we all have to get together and pretend we like each other, but this year has been okay. Though I know it won’t last.

I know the feeling…I call it “going through the motions”. My sister was strong enough to leave and hasn’t talked to any of us for 20 years. Of course, my mom is “innocent” and the “victim” of all of this. It’s hard too put on a show.

Yeah, I bet if Oregon can get a death penalty conviction for Ridgeway, Washington State will graciously allow the Oregon authorities to take custody of him so he can ride the needle.

I agree with the decision of the Washington authorities to take the death penalty off the table in exchange for him showing them the remains of unrecovered victims and confessions of other murders, but I won’t be crying foul if a loophole can be found to execute him.

How weird, the thing that stood out on her sketch was her horrible teeth and she actually had very beautiful ones. Very strange. Yes, really I was rellooking at her sketch not sure why it occured to them to picture her with so ugly teeth.

    • Meaghan December 16, 2009 / 12:15 pm

Perhaps this is an older photo and her teeth went all rotten after it was taken?

      • danielle December 17, 2009 / 3:11 pm

then the drugs and lifestyl would make her teeth ugly… seems really sad, it looked like she literally met the wrong people

Did I miss something? What sketch are you guys talking about?

I have never heard of this young woman either which is really surprising considering how many missing persons websites there are.

    • danielle December 17, 2009 / 12:36 am

what picture are you talking about with her bad teeth? The picture I have seen is when she is very pretty.

      • Meaghan December 17, 2009 / 12:38 pm

She’s referring to the sketch of the unidentified body, not the actual photo of the girl.

    • Meaghan December 16, 2009 / 3:51 pm

Yes, I did. I will resolve her case today.

You haven’t commented in awhile. Glad to hear you’re still around.

Thanks…and believe me, I have missed coming in here. I don’t get on line much at home and at work they blocked EVERYTHING including emails. I was able to look at the case files but anything that said Blog or Mail was blocked. Then about a week ago they let us back in. Don’t know why but I’m not complaining!

I went back and read old entries and I’m couldn’t help but laugh at the gift you got your brother. How you found that website is beyond me but It was hilarious. Hope you have a great Christmas…..oh the pic of you and your Honey was waaaay cute….you two are adorable!

Meaghan’s post has a link to the article with the “identified” word and the doe was listed online here is her pic:

It’s more about her teeth being crooked not about being stained or sthg, the doe looks like she has fine rather crooked and gapped teeth while Angela’s were very straight, ungapped and rather large/square. That’s weird. Also I’m not sure she was in the streets for long Tammy Liles had gone missing in June 1983 and going by the look, she looked middle class, I’m not sure she ever went into prostitution. But probably the teeth were done randomly, yet they could pay attention.

Thanks Girl. My favorite thing about you is that you share so much with us… don’t try to hide all your source information. Some of the other sites are so protective and won’t devulge a thing.

    You’re great at sharing!!

Meaghan: Have you ever seen the website “people you’ll see in hell”? There are not stories of missing people, but how they become missing. There are a lot of stories on what people do to each other.
I found it by surfing for info on Diane Schuler (Taconic mom who killed 8 while drunk driving).

Anyway, the criminals are people perfect for hell eternally.

I used to go to that website quite a lot and was a regular commenter, but I quit going in the summer of 2008. No particular reason, I just quit.

…for example they did a story on Mary E. Wilcox. You did a good profile on her….so some people on Charley Project can be on the “pysih” website.
