…just in case, it looks like Jaycee Dugard may have been found alive and well. A woman walked into a police station claiming to be her, anyway, and the police say they have two suspects in custody and will disclose more at a press conference today. If this is true, then Jaycee, who was abducted in 1991, sets a new record for the longest time a stranger abducted child lived in captivity.

Wow! If this is true – and it seems pretty credible – it’s amazing. I can only imagine what her family must be thinking and feeling right now. I hope some more details are released so we can better understand the circumstances of her life for the last 18 years. She’s nearly 30 and she’s only now able to come forward? They must have held her under powerful sway.
This is amazing! I hope this trend in old cases being solved continues! i wonder how she is doing mentally….
Do you know if anyone is longer than nine years? Francisco Andrade Vega was nine years, but he knew his abductor slightly. Natasha Kampsuch was I think eight years.
Apparently she was kept as a sex slave in their backyard in a soundproof shed and bore her captor several children. My heart breaks for this young woman and her family:)
How about Steven Stayner? A good book on that case is “I Know My First Name is Steven”. A TV movie was also made in 1989. Very tragic story. He would up escaping w/Timmy White who was also abducted by Kenneth Parnell, but died some years later after being struck by a car riding his motorcycle. His brother Cary Stayner was then sentenced to death as he was the Yosemite Killer. That family went through a living hell.
Steven Stayner was only held for seven years, I think.
His brother was Carey Stayner…the guy who killed a mom, her daughter and the daughter’s friend at the same time and another woman hiking alone in Yosetmite Partk.
This created the Carole Sund Foundation. Experts say Carey was deeply affected by his brother’s kidnapping.
Steven was killed in a motor cycle accident
