First in a series about Curtis Huntzinger

This is the first in a three-part series of articles about the disappearance and murder of fourteen-year-old Curtis Anthony Huntzinger. He disappeared in 1990. A friend of his family, Steven Daniel Hash, had been molesting him for over a year, shot him to death and buried him. Hash pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and lead the cops to Curtis’s grave in December 2008. He only faced twelve years in prison. I don’t believe they charged him in connection with the molestations. Statute of limitations, I guess, as well as lack of evidence. It’s a shame, because twelve years clearly isn’t enough.

Curiously, the NCMEC had Curtis listed as a runaway long after it became obvious he’d met with foul play, and even after Hash’s guilty plea!

I read all of them…..they should have just done a 2 part series seeing how 1 & 2 pretty much covered the same thing.

Tragic story…and the comments??? God people can be so cruel. One monster posted that mom deserved to lose her child since she had so many. She was also blasted for having tatoos/tatooes. I didn’t see any on her in the pictures I looked at but who the hell cares? People can be real shits! I’m so glad they found her boy. Its been too long not knowing and she deserved to be able to give him a proper burial.

Yes, I have written before about how cruel and insensitive people can be when writing on the internet about the families of missing children.

My mother had seven children. One of my brothers was killed in a car accident twenty years ago and she mourns him every day. I’m sure she would not miss him any more or less if he were her only child, or one of fourteen.

Its sad looking at how sweet and cute this young teen was and there was no friend there at his side to help protect him from the killer within.
There was no excuse for this case to have gone so long with out a arrest and finding Curtis sooner, This child was finally laid to rest and his mother was able to recover a few items from his first grave.
Why did that person need to take his life instead of just accepting whatever the punishment would have been, RIP Curtis Huntzinger.

Steven Hash is a pedophile and a murderer. But how was I “saying shit” about him? I was simply noting the article and the facts of the case.
