Golly gosh, it’s happened again!

According to Project Jason, Melvin Uphoff and Jacquelyn Rains-Kracman have been found safe. They both disappeared about a month apart from the same Nebraska town in 1965. They were both married to other people but seeing each other (although, to be fair, Jackie was separated and getting a divorce) and everyone assumed they had run off together, but no one really knew for sure.

Additional information about their location hasn’t been released and may never be. But I’m enthused that the two lovebirds have been located and their families finally know they are all right. First Everett Ruess and now this; it seems to be the week for ancient case resolves.

That is amazing. Glad they’re alive, but still think (assuming of course that they did run off, whether together or otherwise) that they did a terrible thing to their families and I hope their consciences haven’t let them rest easy all this time.

I agree. I have no respect for people who walk out on their kids. Both Jackie and Melvin left little children behind as well as other family members, and that’s just not cool.

I thought they might be found safe someday.

If they wanted to run off, fine, but they could have at least told people where they were.

Exactly. That’s what the “Dear John” letter is for, for people who don’t have the backbone to tell others face to face that they’re leaving.
I wonder if this pair is even still together after forty-plus years.
