  1. Anthony Says:

Yeppers, this is great. Found it via Meyahna’s “Unsolved–In the News” site a couple days back. Highly recommended reading. It’s like getting a free book.

  2. Aimee Says:

I don’t know what to think. This Bober guy? Look up “creepy f***” in the dictionary and that’s his picture next to it. I would not put it past him to have killed somebody (although him being such an agoraphobe kind of weighs against it, if that phobia is real and not just a handy excuse he has not to go out to work or something) but I can also see how he’s got a lot of time on his hands, and how somebody like Diana could be manipulated by him.
Just a sad case all over.

    • Anthony Says:

Whew! Me, I’m just relieved that it is not, in fact, MY picture beside the term “creepy f***” in Aimee’s dictionary.

So, Aimee, whodunnit? I count at least three viable suspects, and that’s not even including the Green River Killer dude.

As for The Creepy Fellow, I’m thinking Asperger’s Syndrome.

    • Meaghan Says:

Bober reminds me a lot of Timothy Bindner (see the San Francisco Bay missing cases, Michaela Garecht, Amber Schwartz, etc.)

      • Anthony Says:

Aha! Thanks. I knew there was someone else but I couldn’t think of the name. Bindner seems even creepier—far creepier, in fact. That 4:30 a.m. cemetery interview whilst playing “Jesus, Here’s Another Child to Hold” secures his top ranking on the ol’ hink-o-meter.

  3. Aimee Says:

Don’t tell Cory that, or he’ll take it and run with it.
As I said, I’d consider him the prime suspect except for him not wanting to be out in open spaces, and you can’t get much more open than around a fairground. But I wouldn’t put it entirely out of the realm of possibility; I mean, the agoraphobia thing might have been less back then and got worse with age and cultivation.
Rheuban Schmidt too. He lied right from the get-go (although to be fair, he already knew, or should have known, that Diana didn’t like him and that she didn’t want Misty and him hanging around together, so it was in his best interests to distance himself from her).
I’m not sold on the GRK thing. It just doesn’t seem quite his usual MO, and by 1992, he had his style pretty much down-pat.
    How bout you?

    • Anthony Says:

My hink-o-meter sounded boldly when encountering the falsehoods of Trina Bevard in regards her 23-year-old boyfriend’s role that evening.

But suspect #1 obviously has to be young Mr. Schmidt.

As for Cory Bober, he can only be said to be guilty of social ineptness—though finding those clothes was quite a happenstance.

And what of Mr. Hickey? It would seem to fit his m.o.

      • Anthony Says:

Aimee swooped down from the future and hit “enter” before I was finished, explaining the above.

  4. Aimee Says:

The clothes really damage Bober’s “socially inept wannabe sleuth who really means no harm” status. Seriously. Clothes are just too small and easily hidden for him to have just come upon them by accident, while he coincidentally is obsessed with the case.

    • Anthony Says:

As we say out here in the flyover states, “Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and again.”

  5. Aimee Says:

    True enough, but…

    • Anthony Says:

At utter worst, he found out what clothes she was wearing from her mom and then planted them. At worst I say.

  6. Aimee Says:

If so then he is not only socially inept and creepy, but downright malicious as well. Syndrome or no syndrome.

    • Anthony Says:

Though the fact does remain that, without his keeping the issue alive, the police might have done even less.

I’m playing the devil’s advocate here.

  7. Aimee Says:

So was I, I was just advocating for a different devil.

  8. gardengirl Says:

Hey Aimee..How do you know so much about this story and information that wasnt in the newspaper…

  9. Anne Says:

I’m going to put on my armchair psychologist’s hat and side with Anthony here re: Bober and Asperger’s. My brother-in-law was identified as having the syndrome about 15 years ago, and as I was reading the article I was struck over and over by how closely he resembles Chris. Both have not a clue how to manifest social niceities; they have no tolerance for people they deem inferior (which is most of us); they can’t stand to focus on anything that doesn’t capture their interest; yet when something does (the GRK for Bober/Star Trek and WoW for Chris), the breadth and depth of their subject knowledge is absolutely stunning.

I’m going to hazard another guess and say that Bober’s pot useage is probably his way of self-medicating.

I don’t see Bober as the killer, primarily because there were other men in her life who ended up with records of violence against women/girls. Kook, yeah; killer, no.

    • Anthony Says:

Thanks Anne! No one’s agreed with me since last millenium.

My own diagnosis was based on googling Asperger’s, then putting a mental checkmark beside each item which fit Bober. Almost all of them did.

A note to people wishing to comment on this entry:

I believe in free speech, but I am not going to allow your comment if it is written in all capital letters or contains lawsuit threats.

  11. Diane Gresham Says:

I have known Mr. Bober for most of the many years he has investigated Misty Copsey’s case and I can tell you he is not only NOT sufering from ANY ‘syndrome,’ whatsover, but he happens to be a man of honesty and real intelligence with some pride – he’s very funny too! He is not a man who even wanted or wants today to be ‘involved’ in any capacity with Misty Copsey’s case investigation or her investigators – he is trapped into it; he did nothing but assist with great support her mother for many years and I have met Misty’s mother myself, years ago in 1993, over the phone before (long before I remarried and changed my name).

No one has better evidence, more to offer the Copsey investigation, comes to the table with more solid facts to support a suspect than does Cory Bober. He has only tried to assist police with real factual and corroborated information that supports many people’s belief that convicted Puyallup City Child Rapist Randy Achziger Killed Misty Copsey. I believe it completely.

I personally talked to Randy Achziger’s mother when whe was drunk one night and what she said alone convinced me Randy killed someone; his mother also lived directly across the street from the very bus stop in Puyallup where Misty tried to catch the bus the night she went missing. I knew Randy was with his mother at the Good Sam Hospital the night Misty Copsey went missing in the evening of 09.17.92 because his brother’s wife Mary personally told me so. Mary Achzioger personally told me Randy was there with her ‘and the entire family’ that night as she had a baby that day in that hospital. Cory Biober called Mary Achziger on 3-way with me and got me to talk to Mary for him to see what she would say and that was what she told me while he listened to our conversation. That information put Randy Achziger a the time and plave Mistywas last seen to withing feet of her – literally; he was less than 1,000 feet away when she was last seen.

The Tacoma News Tribune is not correct the their report – Misty Copsey was last seen walking southbound up S. Meridian Street, just crossing the West bound onramp to Washington Highway 512 at 10pm that night, 09/17/92, seen ‘with her head down and crying’ by 2 witnesses who were intervieded by King County Police Detective Jim Doyon; he talked to Mr. Bober about that interview the day I took Mr. Bober to be interviewed by him in King County at the courthouse.

See I knew that detective as well, I am the one who took Cory Bober to the King County Courthouse to be interviewed by Det. Doyon one day in the late summer of 1994 I believe it was. I sat with them for a 5 hour interview and when done Det. Doyon told Mr. Bober he was not at all interested in any poligraph from him when Mr. Bober offered him one on the off chance he did not believe what he told him about Randy Achziger. Det. Doyon said he was not interested in testing Mr. Bober whatsoever as that was he said because he believed he was telling the truth – and I am also sure that he was.

Puyallup police have everything to hide and have lied about Mr. Bober which was proven in his marijuana trial he was acquitted in in Pierce County Superior Court in June 1999. I read the report in the paper that said so. Even when he was in trouble himself for something he did not even do, Mr. Bober continued his own investigation of Misty Copsey’s case and Randy Achziger – risking his very life – when he never had to and he was successful in doing so.

If anyone needs some thanks it would be Mr. Bober and it only amazes me that after he has taken so much inflicted abuse from every angle and person involved (especially from her mother Diana) and even after police attacked him 2 times he continues to try to bring his evidenmce to and information to someone who can help him as he is only about proving Randy Achziger killed Misty Copsey. Mr. Bober continues his work with the one hope only, that SOMEDAY he will be heard and his research will be investigated by someone in law enforecement who actually wants to solve the Copsey case. Police are still indifferent with no concern for the resolution of Misty Copsey case.

The Tacoma News Tribune newspaper series about the Misty Copsey case is a crank joke. I read it all. They did Mr. Bober nothing but a dis-service, debased his charachter intentionally and have no apparent interest in telling the truth and or in revealing to the public what they know to be substantial untested and uninvestigated good evidence and information that Cory Bober alone provided them. I ALONE AS A LAY PERSON can even see Cory Bober’s evidence proves Puyallup, Washington Sex offender Randy Achziger is responsible for Misty Copsey’s murder AND THAT THE POLICE HAVE REMAINED NEGLIGENT IN THE ENTIRE MATTER!

Randy Achziger buried Misty Copsey in his own friend / roommate’s yard near Eatonville, Washington in Pierce County and police know it but stopped Cory Bober’s all out efforts to get her remains unearthed since he discovered the evidence that shows were Misty Copsey was killed and buried and gave it to police in July of 2004.

The only ‘unbelievable’ thing of all of this is that the PUYALLUP POLICE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE COPSEY CASE AND ARE PROTECTING RANDY ACHZIGER WITH THEIR LIES AND COMPLETE INACTION.

Before you go gagging on your boots you need to see who you are talking about – or ignoring in this case – and the evidence waiting for someone who really wants to solve Misty’s case. Attacking a brilliant and uninvolved man like Cory Bober, ‘killing the messenger’ before you even look at the message details? That’s as reckless as the cops. I would advise you to look in the mirror and ask yourself why bother even commenting on something that either never concerned you or that you flat know nothing about? Don’t bother if you are aiming to atack the only one who ever worked the Copsey case honestly!

No, Cory Bober did NOT put me up to this and will not even know I wrote this unless he just stumbles over it. I hope he does. Cory Bober has a right to be proud of what he has done and KNOW that he has support of at least his friends.

It is amazing that this case of this little girl was so abused – the abuse continues by police and the press and Misty Copsey is still trapped in the very same hole she was in the night Randy Achziger put her there.

I believe Cory Bober. I know he is right about Randy Achziger.

No, I never knew Randy Achziger and I never want to. I would suggest if you know this frightening and dangerous indiividual that you move far away from him real quick and never tell him where you moved to!

Now get off your butts people and go do something good for someone else for once instead of attacking strangers the way Randy Achziger does.

Why don’t you help get Misty Copsey dug up if you REALLY ever had any concern for her or the resolution of her case? You all seem not to care about Misty at all – now that’s sadly a fact.

Cory Bober posted a youtube video to show everyone exactly where Randy Achziger buried Misty Copsey and it is not too hard to see by the imgages that SHE REALLY IS THERE! I have already assisted in tis case, have health problems now and a husband who would never allow me to get further ‘involved’ in this or I would try to do more myself.

I wish Cory Bober the best of luck and pray for a miracle for him soon.

    Diane G.

Corey Bober is a predator, I know a young woman that this man is stalking.

Look at Rheuban Schmidt. Nobody Smashes their Car if their not trying 2 hide something???

I have spent all day reading about the misty copsey case. I do not believe Cory bober was involved. It does sound as though LE botched this case from the get go. I do have a couple ?s though. Corys theory was the 2 other girls were killed in July of 1988 and august 1990, so that’s what led him to believe (know) another girl would disappear in sept 1992. Were there any other disappearances in Oct 1994, Nov 1996, Dec 1998, etc? When was randy imprisoned to and from? It really sounds like rheuben had something to do with it. I’m curious why his uncle was never interviewed. And I’m curious why his grandmother’s property was never searched. And if it was Richard, the convicted rapist, DNA testing of the hairs would provide a match. (Don’t all convicted rapists have to provide DNA samples?) Again, that is something LE should have done. As for Cory bober I do believe he had nothing but the best intentions. I think he is probably suffering from aspergers which would explain his obsession. I think mistys mother needed to step away from him and look at the case from a different perspective. The case would probably be no where without corys help, but his fixation on the one suspect is hindering him. He should try looking at his case files without fixating on randy and maybe then some ?s would be answered. Also, why do all the suspects have r names. Randy, rheuben, Richard, and rhyner. That’s a little spooky.

  15. Andrea West Says:

Cory Bober masquerading as “Diane G” to come to his own defense after his previous posts were removed by the moderator. It’s not the first time he has posted on blogs pretending to be someone else. Cory is obsessed with a man he believes is the real Green River Killer. Cory is hated by Misty’s family. One particular aunt, Debbie, firmly believes Cory is Misty’s killer.
